Sewer, Garbage, Recycling
A lagoon system is used for sewage disposal in Carrington, with runoff water handled by a storm sewer system. Additional land is available for enlargement of the system, if needed.
City Garbage service is contracted on a three-year basis. Collections are made weekly for Carrington residents.
For service and billing questions please contact City Hall at 701-652-2911. Please remember to have totes ready for pick-up by 6:30 am on your scheduled day.
Our local recycling center is temporarily closed to the public. Sorted recyclable materials (i.e. cans, newspaper, plastic bottles, corrugated cardboard, etc.) can be taken to Renaissance Recycling in Jamestown (1016 10 St. SE; former Coke building). Their hours are Tues. 9-1, Wed. 1-5 and Thurs.-Sat. 9-1. For more information on what they accept, please see: www.jamestownrecycling.com. It is free of charge with sorted recyclable materials.
WaterComputerized record systems provide a direct link with the state.
For fire insurance purposes, Carrington is rated as a Class 6 city. Over 40 volunteers are trained to handle any emergency, with the help of annual training and an extensive line of fire protection equipment.
A full-service ambulance is presently being managed and operated by a full-time EMT/paramedic and community volunteers. Future plans call for Carrington Health Center to assume responsibility for ambulance services.
